Alpine Animal Hospital is hosting a low-cost vaccination clinic for healthy pets in our community on Saturday, October 24th from 9am until 2pm.

Public health officials around the world are raising concerns about recommended vaccines that are being skipped for people and animals due to COVID-19. Many veterinary clinics around the country have been operating at limited capacity over the past few months with priority given to animals needing urgent care or treatment for long term diseases. This is resulting in fewer people taking their pets in for recommended vaccines that prevent outbreaks of diseases like rabies, distemper, and parvovirus.

To aid in protecting our local pet populations, and support those in our community who may be facing economic uncertainty during this pandemic, Alpine Animal Hospital is offering brief health exams, low-cost vaccinations, as well as other components of preventive care for dogs and cats during this one-day clinic. To efficiently enable us to vaccinate pets while adhering to required social distancing, curbside appointments are needed.

This clinic is limited to healthy pets only - if your pet is ill or has a problem, please schedule a comprehensive examination during our normal hospital hours. Although vaccinations are important for disease prevention, this clinic is not meant to replace an annual comprehensive physical examination and health evaluation by your pet's veterinarian at least once per year.

This vaccination clinic is held in partnership with Rabies Free Africa for World Rabies Day, to help prevent this deadly disease from impacting local pets. Rabies Free Africa works with African governments and international partners to develop strategies for eliminating rabies as a human health threat by 2030. Alpine Animal Hospital partnered with Rabies Free Africa early in 2019 and donates $1 for every rabies vaccination administered in their hospital year-round. Since partnering, we have donated over $1500 to the program.

Please send documentation of your pet’s previous vaccinations via email ahead of time if possible, or bring with you to your pet’s appointment. Proof of prior vaccinations is important for determining if boosters are needed, or the appropriate duration of vaccinations administered. All rabies vaccines for dogs will be considered one year vaccines, unless documentation of prior administration is available.
